Growing up in the middle Georgia area, I had an Irish Setter named Eleanor. I remember watching Eleanor out running and chasing the quail. Since then, I have had a love for bird dogs.
My wife Tippe and I got our first bird dog, an English Setter named Gracie, from an older gentleman named Mr. Buck Maddox. With your first bird dog, you go through a great deal of trial and error, some good and some not so good. Mr. Buck helped guide me in the right direction. Over the years Tippe and I have owned or trained just about every pointing breed of bird dog. To name a few; the English Setter, the Pointer, the Vizsla, the German Short-Haired Pointer, and the Brittany. We have found that each breed has their own unique qualities that makes people love them.
There is nothing like following your dog in the field, seeing him go on point, and then having a covey rise up. I simply love and thoroughly enjoy what I do! Please enjoy these pages that are dedicated to the dogs of Oconee Kennel.
